Indian Koran Manuscript Leaf, 1616:

This illustrated leaf is from the Holy book scribed by Abdullah at-Khadim in AD1616. It is in good condition. The leaf is from Chapter 55 (Al-Rahman) The Most Compassionate v.57-67 which set out the rewards of Paradise with its gusg=hing springs, rivers and plentiful fruit for the foremost believers and the rewards of the people of the right.

The format is very typical of a Sultanate India Koran of the early period with expansive headings and large script in fine hand. In this case, there are three large headings in Muhaqqaq, dividing the two sections of scripture. Floral patterns in blue top and tail the scripture and each section of scripture has blue and gold book end decorations.
