Geneva "Breeches" Folio Bible 1609, With Original Brass Clasps

A Geneva or 'Breeches' Bible, early 17th century, pulpit folio, full leather, gilt embossed decoration to boards, brass clasps (one at fault).

On the inside of the front cover there is various inscriptions from previous owners. There are many beautiful illustrations of maps from the supposed location of the Garden of Eden and other references occurring during the Old Testament

Faults/Damage:

The Old Testament lacking title page, 'The Garden Of Eden' engraving moved from the beginning of Genesis to be used as title page, 'To The Christian Reader' (repaired), 'Of The Incomparable Treasure Of The Holy Scriptures[...]' (repaired), foliated 1-362, several leaves mis-numbered but text continuous, the New Testament with title page 'Imprinted at London by Robert Barker, Printer to the Kings most excellent Majestie 1611', 'The Printer To The Diligent Reader', 'The Description Of The Holy Land [...]', foliated 3-135, leaves 7-12 present but out of order, several leaves mis-numbered but text continuous, Table of proper names, Table of principle things, The Whole Book Of Psalmes with title page 'Printed for the Companie of Stationers 1609', paginated pp1-114, several pages mis-numbered but text continuous, 'Prayers' comprising two leaves only (of four), Table of Psalmes (at fault)
