First Edition "Martin's Bible" KJV Large Quarto Bible With Illustrations, Dated 1776:

This KJV Large Quarto Bible with illustrations, known as "Martin's Bible", is a rare and valuable collectable dating back to 1776. Published by Robert Martin in Birmingham, England, this original edition features stunning illustrations by Francis Hayman. The leather-bound Bible is a beautifully crafted piece of religious history that would make a treasured addition to any collector's library. With its special attributes and unique illustrations, this Bible is a true gem from the world of antiques and collectables.
On the fourth leaf there is a very faded list of an inscription. There are what appears to be names and dated (I am assuming they are a list of owners or the dates of their birth).
This bible has received a period rebinding. However, the original binding was salvaged and attached on top of the new cover/spine. This is very difficult to see as the colour is almost identical. Despite this, you can see where the original cover was damaged and attached on the front and back cover.

There are two fascinating points of interest for this bible. The year it was printed 1776 being of upmost importance to Americans and that the printer was a rival/competitor/former employee to Thomas Baskerville.
